It is a great pleasure for me to welcome you to the 4th International Conference on Acoustics
and Vibration (ISAV2014) which follows previous conferences held in Tehran. ISAV2014 is jointly
held by Iran University of Science & Technology (IUST) and Iranian Society of Acoustics and
Vibration (ISAV) in the hope of providing you with a program that would motivate and enhance
the knowledge of acoustics and vibration. The conference provides an international forum for
presentation and exchange of the latest scientific achievements and technological developments
in the fields of acoustics and vibration. The program features plenary and keynote
presentations, contributed oral and poster papers, a specialized commercial exhibition, and a
number of technical workshops. A student competition for selection of the best BSc, MSc and PhD
theses in acoustics and vibration is another exciting part of ISAV2014.
As the conference chair of ISAV2014, I know that the success of the conference depends
ultimately on the many people who have worked with us in planning and organizing both the
technical program and supporting social arrangements. In particular, we thank ISAV Chairs for
their wise advice and brilliant suggestion on organizing the technical program; the Scientific
Committee members for their thorough and timely reviewing of the papers, and our sponsors who
have helped us to keep down the costs of ISAV2014 for all participants. Recognition should go
to the Executive Committee members who have all worked extremely hard for the details of
important aspects of the conference programs and social activities.
