    Call for nomination of
Ahmadian Prize in Experimental Vibration and Acoustics – 5th run – ISAV2026

    The Competition
Researchers are invited to submit a manuscript from their work on “Experimental Vibration and Acoustics” for the review process in JTAVA. The manuscript will be reviewed in a fast-track process for publication in a special section of the journal while the work participates in the competition for H. Ahmadian Prize in the following annual ISAV conference. The prize is given in honour of the late Hamid Ahmadian, Professor of Vibration Engineering at Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST), a founding member of the Iranian Society of Acoustics and Vibration (ISAV) and the founding editor-in-chief of TAVA who led the journal from its launch in 2014 until 2021. Three prizes of total worth 400 M IRR will be given to three winners selected by the panel.

    Recipients of 2025 Prizes
The 4rd year run of the competition received 11 participants. From this input, 4 manuscripts were rejected through the scientific review process and a shortlist of 7 were qualified for the prize. TAVA scientific review process was either completed or progressed up to the first revision on these 7 manuscripts before ISAV2026 Conf. who were selected as candidates of Prize 2025. Five prizes, including two at level I (250M IRR) and three at level III (50M IRR) were awarded during a special ceremony in the closing session of ISAV2025 Conf. The recipients were:
    Level I winners
Ali Davoodabadi, Somaye Mohammadi, Hesam Addin Arghand, Mehdi Behzad*, Enhancing fault diagnosis of rolling element bearings: A novel SAE-DNN approach with AdaBN for domain adaptation, Journal of Theoretical and Applied Vibration and Acoustics (JTAVA), Vol. 12, Iss. 1, (2026).
Vajihehsadat Sajadi, Farhang Honarvar*, Mohammadreza Kari, An investigation into the behaviour of resonances of polymeric and metallic cylinders in acoustic wave scattering, Journal of Theoretical and Applied Vibration and Acoustics (JTAVA), Vol. 11, Iss. 2, 204-231 (2025).

    Level III winners
Alireza Alavi, Ali Chaibakhsh*, Design and fabrication of low-frequency inductive velocity transducer for condition monitoring of large-scale steam turbines, Journal of Theoretical and Applied Vibration and Acoustics (JTAVA), Vol. 12, Iss. 1, (2026).
Amirhossein Amirnia, Somaye Mohammadi*, Mehdi Behzad, Innovative mechanism design for data mining and enhanced gear misalignment detection via vibration analysis, Journal of Theoretical and Applied Vibration and Acoustics (JTAVA), Vol. 12, Iss. 1, (2026).

    Recipients of 2024 Prizes
The 3rd year run of the competition received 13 participants from which a shortlist of 12 were qualified for the prize. TAVA scientific review process was either completed or progressed up to the first revision on 10 manuscripts before ISAV2024 Conf. who were selected as candidates of Prize 2024 and 2 manuscripts were postponed to 2025 competition. Four prizes, including one at level I (250M IRR), one at level II (100M IRR) and two at level III (50M IRR) were awarded during a special ceremony in the closing session of ISAV2024 Conf. The recipients were:

    Level I winner
Mohammad Ali Akhtardanesh, Ensieh Alipour, Mohammad Farshchi*, Deep learning prediction and experimental validation of nonlinear acoustic-driven flame dynamics using a CNN-transformer hybrid model, Journal of Theoretical and Applied Vibration and Acoustics (JTAVA).

    Level II winner
Hossein Jamshidi*, Hamid Ahmadian, Analytical determination of Iwan and Maxwell slip models of an elastic frictional rough interface, Journal of Theoretical and Applied Vibration and Acoustics (JTAVA), Vol. 9, Iss. 2, 65-101 (2023).

    Level III winners

    Entry
Interested researchers should submit their manuscript with article type as “H. Ahmadian Prize” to enter the competition. The research work will be reviewed in a fast-track process while a panel of reviewers will also evaluate the work based on the following items:

1 Theoretical development of dynamic models Theoretical Basis
2 Analytical, semi-analytical and numerical solution methods
3 Design, construction and start-up of test-rig for experimental studies Experimental Validations
    4 Tests and experimental analyses
5 Results validation by laboratory experiments
6 Demonstration of industrial significance for the results Field Tests
7 Industrial implementation of principal findings

You may submit any supplementary file supporting the start-up of a test-rig, field tests or other items which might help the evaluator panel to review the work.
To support young researchers, manuscripts whose corresponding author is within the first 20 years of their career, will receive a +10% points in evaluations. Supporting documents in this regard may be submitted as supplementary material through manuscript submission.
